Community: Employers: Why IUPUI?

IUPUI was created in 1969 as a partnership by and between Indiana and Purdue Universities, with IU as the managing partner. It is home to 22 schools and academic units and is the third largest campus in the state of Indiana.

How is IUPUI different from other IU campuses?

In January 2005, a report identifying the different missions of the Indiana University campuses was released. In it, IUPUI was characterized as a distinctly urban campus with a responsibility to serve greater Indianapolis through a broad array of academic programs and community outreach. http://newsinfo.iu.edu/pub/libs/images/usr/905_h.pdf Link will open in a new window

What are the campus' priorities?

In December 2003, Chancellor Bantz challenged the campus to double its achievements in teaching and learning; research, scholarship and creative activity; and civic engagement.
