Standing Faculty Committees
University College Academic Policies and Procedures Committee
- Membership
The voting members of this committee shall consist of five regular faculty members, the University College representative to the IUPUI Academic Policies and Procedures Committee, and three staff members appointed by the Dean and Executive Committee.
- Duties and Responsibilities
The committee will review existing academic policies and procedures for admissions protocols, retention guidelines and other matters and will work with appropriate groups if review warrants changes to existing policy or practices.
University College Curriculum Committee
- Membership
The voting members of this committee shall consist of six faculty and three staff members appointed by the Dean and Executive Committee. The Associate Dean and the Assistant Dean of academic affairs shall serve as ex officio members of the committee. Faculty and staff from other academic and administrative units will be invited to join the committee, and the appointments will be confirmed by the Dean and Executive Committee.
- Duties and Responsibilities
The committee will provide curricular guidance and support for faculty and staff teaching the First Year Seminar and other academic support programs housed in University College. The committee will provide oversight for the Orientation Program. The committee will review data about course selection by entering students and making recommendations for change in curricular plans.
University College Faculty Roles, Responsibilities, and Recognition Committee
- Membership
The voting members of this committee shall consist of seven faculty appointed by the Dean and Executive Committee. The committee shall include at least one adjunct faculty member. The Associate Dean shall serve as an ex officio member.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- The committee will provide advice and guidance to the faculty on issues related to faculty roles, responsibilities, and recognition regarding teaching, service, and research.
- The committee will function as a nominating committee for all elected positions and Standing Academic Committee appointments.
- Review nominations for adjunct faculty appointment and make recommendations to the Dean.
- Review awards
- Advise on professional staff development
- Serve as a link between the rest of campus and University College on issues of faculty development
- Collaborate the role and accomplishments of University College to the rest of campus
- Promote faculty development in first year experience courses
University College Planning and Budgetary Affairs Committee
- Membership
The voting members of this committee shall consist of five members of the University College faculty, as appointed by the Executive Committee. The Dean and Fiscal Officer shall serve as ex officio, non-voting members.
- Duties and Responsibilities
The committee shall serve as the primary deliberative body of the faculty with respect to all issues related to long range planning and resource allocation. The committee shall advise the Dean in assessing resource needs, in allocating financial resources, and in establishing fiscal priorities.
Ad Hoc Committees and Task Forces
The faculty assembly and the Executive Committee may establish such ad hoc committees or Task Forces as they see fit, save that no ad hoc committee shall be established without a specific term and mandate. The membership of an ad hoc committee may be drawn from outside the University College or the university.
