Students: Academic Planning: Changing Majors

Choosing a major can be a difficult decision, but University College advisors and career counselors can help!  There are a variety of ways to start exploring majors and careers:

• Think about what subjects really interested you in school.  Why were these subjects interesting?
• How do you spend your time when you are not in class?  What are your hobbies?  What is it that you like about these activities?
• What type of work experience do you have?  What did you like or dislike about these jobs?

Here are things you can do at IUPUI to start exploring a major:

• Take an introductory course in a major field of study
• Meet with an academic advisor or career counselor to discuss your interests.
• Take an assessment (test) to learn more about your interests, skills, and abilities and how these relate to majors and career options.
